Is Cindy jealous of Katrina? Of Rita?

Someone identified as "Cindy Sheehan," the newly arrested Peace Mom, is vexed that Hurricane Rita stole Cindy's thunder. That was after Rita bumped Katrina out of the way.

The someone called "Cindy Sheehan" wrote at the DailyKos.com Web site early Saturday evening: "I am watching CNN and it is 100 percent [Hurricane] Rita. Even though it is a little wind and a little rain, it is bad, but there are other things going on in this country today ... and in the world."

"I am very certain she did not post it," says Morrigan Phillips, a spokesman (Mrs. Sheehan has three) who has taken questions for Mrs. Sheehan on her cross-country protest tour. "She was pretty busy on Saturday."

Right.

The problem is, the post was done using the same account as dozens of legitimate entries:

The comment was one of a dozen entries, including speech transcripts and press releases, credited to Mrs. Sheehan at the site, which says 79 percent of the "page viewers" are Democrats.

Even this Democratic Underground poster found the denial to be too much of a stretch:

The comment posted by Cindy Sheehan on dKos is the same user who posted all the diaries in the last few weeks, and the same user who apologized for the comment later in that particular diary.

You can almost sense the fear as Ohio Liberal dared to stand up and criticize Cindy Sheehan.

So is it the same Cindy Sheehan. Well. the same account was used by someone pretending to be Cindy Sheehan to post this:

The rumors are true this time. I was arrested in front of the White House today. It was my first time ever being arrested.

The fine for Demonstrating Without a Permit is $75.00. I am certain that I won't pay it. My court date is November 16th. Any lawyers out there want to help me challenge an unconstitutional law??

Is this another imposter? How can we tell which is which?

You know, if the "Rita" post was phoney, the first thing to do is kill the account and create a new one. Basic stuff for anyone who owns a credit card. You don't keep using it once you know it's been compromised.

The fact that Cindy Sheehan is still using this account tells me the "imposter" story is garbage.

Well, Cindy Sheehan has tried this defence before:

Another "big deal" today was the lie that I had said that Casey died for Israel. I never said that, I never wrote that. I had supposedly said it in a letter that I wrote to Ted Koppel's producer in March. I wrote the letter because I was upset at the way Ted treated me when I appeared at a Nightline Town Hall meeting in January right after the inauguration. I felt that Ted had totally disrespected me. I wrote the letter to Ted Bettag and cc'd a copy to the person who gave me Ted's address. I believe he (the person who gave me the address) changed the email and sent it out to capitalize on my new found notoriety by promoting his own agenda. Enough about that.

No one bought it then, and no one is going to buy it now.
