Cindy Sheehan: Waning interest

Tracking the volume of Cindy Sheehan stories on Google News:

Clearly sliding away. The pulse on August 27 had more to do with the counter-protest, again reinforcing my view that Cindy Sheehan's coverage is driven by the reaction of others, which would explain why the administration barely acknowledges her existence.

What is particularly notable is where the trend was going were it not for the visit from Al Sharpton. His quick visit added a measure of lift to the story, though it is quickly fading away. As you can see with the lower of the two trendlines, were it not for the counter-protest on the weekend, and the visit from Sharpton (and the subsequent silliness with his driver), the Sheehan story was in a nose-dive.

What stories are being written are hardly sympathetic. Here is a sampling of the news stories appearing on the first page of the Google News Search for tioday:

From the Miami Herald, "Cindy Sheehan: Misusing dead son or honoring him?"
From the Conservative Voice, "The Wicked Witch of the Ditch: Cindy Sheehan"
From the Spoof, "Japanese Robot Praises Cindy Sheehan, Calls George Bush “The AntiChrist”"

[Michelle Malkin has another wrap-up, which seems more and more like a clean-up.]
