From Cindy Sheehan's speech upon her return to Crawford:
And I am going to make sure that after our troops are brought home from Iraq, and they will be brought back, that we're going to keep the Camp Casey movement going and we're gonna make sure that our kids are never sent to fight a war for power and greed.I'm thinking, I'm thinking probably, probably the country is kind of going to take me at my word from now on. They are going to know that I'm not going to give up and today was really hard when I came in and saw Casey bigger than life over there. I miss him so much and I miss him more every day, but like that song "Joe Hill," Casey's not dead. I see him in all of your eyes and Casey will never die. And they can kill the body, but they can't kill the love and the spirit, and no matter how hard they try they can't do that.
No mention of meeting with the President. I don't think it matters to her. I doubt it ever did, except perhaps at the very beginning. Now it's about the crowds and the media coverage and adulation from the Sheehanites.
It no longer has anything to do with meeting with this president (he's only mentioned twice), or the war in Iraq ("[Casey] wasn't killed by terrorists. He was killed by Shiite militia.").
It's about a movement to support her goal of a position of power, the power to fix things as she sees fit:
So, thank you Casey and thank you Ken and thank you all the others, and I know that they are in heaven and I know that that's why this movement is growing because we have tens of thousands of angels behind us that are supporting us, that are saying, "Well you know we died and that was really crappy, but we hope that our deaths are going to make the world a better place," and it's up to us to make sure that it does.
She'll be running for Congress within a few years, that's my guess. Makes sense, since I don't think she has much to go back to. The rest of Casey's family has moved on, by all accounts.
[Michelle Malkin notes Cindy's return. She clearly thinks this "circus" is well past it's "best by" date. Blogs for Bush has more, and there are pictures at the Buzz. Apparently, the press still wants Bush to meet with her -- I guess they are aching for a story and some pics.]
