Cindy Sheehan: The last member of the Sheehan family is a no-show

Earlier, I noted the odd assertion Cindy Sheehan had made that her son Andy would be joinging her in a few weeks: "Only her surviving son, Adam, will join her at the site in a few weeks". Given that the President's vacation in Crawford will wrap up in just over two weeks, it seems likely that Andy will arrive too late.

As it turns out, it looks like Cindy Sheehan is fibbing again. Time magazine reports:

Surviving son Andy, 21, supports his mother in principle but recently sent her a long e-mail imploring her "to come home because you need to support us at home," he says.

I'm curious about the name -- Andy is short for Andrew, not Adam. Looks like one of the two reports has muddled up the name (probably the New York Times).

So it sounds like Cindy's son is not coming to Camp Casey at all. It sounds like Cindy's son would like his mom to come home. It sounds like he'll be disappointed:

Unfortunately, I [Cindy Sheehan] am not able to help them [my children] that much because of my pain, and because I feel so compelled to fight the injustice and bring the troops home.

It's already been established that soon to be ex-husband Patrick Sheehan is out of the picture and that Cindy Sheehan's two daughters are off in Europe (where Janey is coping by throwing herself into drinking and partying).

Now we know Andy is alone at home, waiting for mom, who won't be coming home because of her compulsion to fight injustice.

There's no one left.

The Sheehan family is gone. Cindy Sheehan could have chosen not to let this happen. But the surviving children must now realize that the memory of her dead son is far more important to her than well-being of her living children. The impact of this will probably affect them for the rest of their lives.

Here's hoping Patrick and his family can take charge of the situation and bring some healing.
