Debating with unreasonable children

With a hat tip to Wizbang, NARAL has this "reasoned" response to the abstinence argument -- hold a "Screw Abstinence" party!

Tired of Bush & Co. spending your tax dollars on abstinence-only-until-marriage initiatives that promote dangerous misinformation?

Let them know you keep it real when it comes to your sexual health and decision making.

Come laugh, learn, socialize and buck the system at NARAL Pro-Choice Washington’s Screw Abstinence Party.

Abstinence until marriage is dangerous? Respond by promoting casual sex?

From American Princess a sarcastic analysis:

[T]his constant attempt to divorce sex from any kind of meaning is growing ever more crude.

Ah, well, what did abstinence ever do anyway? The only way to not have a baby is, of course, have an abortion.

And this would defintely keep the abortion business in the black.

Meaning of course, we'd still need NARAL.

And at The Museum of Left Wing Lunacy, we find a quote from a left-wing abortion rights supporter who is stunned by this stunt:

"Wow-weee, the left is 'pro-sex' and those meanie Christian activists want to preach abstinence in the schools," Feit wrote. "Look, I'm just as freaked out as anyone about the creeping evisceration of separation of church and state … but let's be smart politically. A 'Screw Abstinence' fundraiser is … trite, juvenile, and politically stupid."

And from me: another example of childishness and petulence from the left. When you make a suggestion in a debate, your opponent is invited to respond. But how do you debate people like this?

From the right: "You know, it's hard to get an STD if you limit your sexual activities to one monogamous lifelong partner."

From the left: "Oh yeah, well, look at me! I'm having sex right now! So there!"

From the right: "OK, I'm pretty sure that isn't allowed by the Cambridge Debating Club Rules and Procedures."
